Young Hare (Alemania: Feldhase) es una pintura de 1502 acuarelas y acuarelas del artista alemán Albrecht Dürer. Pintado en 1502 en su taller, se reconoce como una obra maestra de arte observacional junto a su Gran Pieza de Turf del año siguiente. El tema se presenta con precisión casi fotográfica, y aunque la pieza normalmente se le da el título Young Hare, el retrato es suficientemente detallado para que la liebre sea identificada como un espécimen maduro, el título alemán se traduce como "Field Hare" y el trabajo se refiere a menudo en inglés como el Hare o Wild Hare.El tema era particularmente desafiante: la piel de la liebre estaba en diferentes direcciones y el animal estaba moteado con parches más ligeros y más oscuros por todas partes, Dürer tuvo que adaptar las convenciones estándar de afeitado para indicar el contorno del tema por la caída de la luz a través de la figura. A pesar de los desafíos técnicos presentados en la aparición de la luz con un sujeto multicolor, multi-texturado, Dürer no sólo logró crear un estudio detallado, casi científico, del animal, sino que también infunde la imagen con una cálida luz dorada que golpea la liebre de la izquierda, destacando las orejas y la carrera del pelo a lo largo del cuerpo, dando una chispa de vida al ojo, y echando una extraña sombra a la derecha.Durero dibujaba ligeramente la imagen y la doblaba con algunos lavados de acuarela marrón. Luego, con paciencia, construyó la textura de la piel con una variedad de pinceladas oscuras y ligeras tanto en el acuarela como en el cuerpo. Poco a poco, la pintura fue terminada con la adición de algunos detalles refinados tales como los silbidos y la meticulosa reflexión de una ventana en el ojo de la criatura.Hay algún debate sobre cómo Dürer capturó con precisión la imagen de la liebre: pudo haber dibujado una liebre en el salvaje y lleno en los detalles individuales de un animal muerto, o capturado uno y lo mantuvo vivo en su estudio mientras trabajaba en la pintura. Un reflejo del marco de ventana en el ojo de la liebre es a menudo citado como evidencia de la teoría de que Dürer copió la liebre de la vida en su taller, pero esta reflexión cruzada es una técnica que Dürer solía agregar vitalidad a los ojos de sus sujetos.Dürer usó sus estudios de acuarela y bodycolour como material fuente para sus huellas, pero en la Sagrada Familia con Tres Hares las liebres son modestamente renderizadas, y en la única de sus otras huellas para tener una liebre, la placa de cobre de 1504 grabando a Adán y Eva, la liebre se está alejando, media presa detrás de las piernas de Eva. La fecha prominente y el monograma de Durero en el Young Hare indican que Dürer lo consideraba un trabajo en su propio derecho en lugar de simplemente un bosquejo preparatorio. La pintura engendró numerosas copias: al menos doce de los contemporáneos son conocidos.
